I think 300 sq. ft. is a little small per plant!! But, what do I know?? Peace, Wayne

How big of a pumpkin do you want? I would consider 20' x 20' to be the minimum.

I think you need length more than width, sometimes my first females start appearing at 14 feet! I would say a minimum 20 feet long would get you at least 3 shots at a fruit set. 90'x 30' would give lots of room to work between the plants. They are little monsters devouring your garden so be warned!

I would want to try to get a 500-1000 pound pumpkin.

I do agree that 300 sq. ft. is on the small side however I grew one last year on 250 sq. ft. and got 694lbs out of it. The main was 26' long and it was a flag pattern plant. Still I would prefer 400 to 500 ft.

My bad I wasnt saying that 300 was ideal but if your limited in space you could still get a 500 pounder out of it. Last year I averaged about 450 square feet a plant. I agree that length is more important then width.
