Probably a dumb question....

But how do you know which leaf is going to be the main vine? Is it a certain leaf every time, or do you pick one and keep coaxing it in the direction you want? Thanks.

Common theory is that the second true leaf will show vine direction. Some coaxing is needed sometimes, do that slowly during the heat of the day over a several day period. Hope this helps. Peace, Wayne

The best thing to do is plant the seeding at an angle. Pointing it toward the direction you want the main to run. I plant it at an angle with the first leaf in the opposite direction I want the vine to go. Never had a vine fall the wrong way.

I have always found that the main will naturally run south towards the sun. I plant mine on the north end of the garden and they always run down to the south end, I never have to do any coaxing or worrying about where they'll go.

LOL, true LIpumpkin, I figured I'd get a response like that, not quite on the horizon though, except in the winter, LOL, just enough to make them grow south.
