How long are your leaf root nodes when you tear up the vines?

I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean the roots at the leaf nodes? If so, mine vary quite a bit. I pulled up some yesterday, and some roots didn't seem very long, and then a couple that broke off at about 3-4 ft. long.(I wonder how much root length was left in the soil?)

I've pulled secondary roots at least 10' long. They always break before you get to the end too.

The root systems under these things can be incredible! I've read here in the past that the tap root can go straight down 6' or more given the proper conditions. The whole root system can travel 12' to 15' or more out from the stump. As far as secondary roots I agree with Doug. I've pulled them up as long as 10" but they usually broke off so who knows.
