I live in Ma. and my first year growing a large pumpkin was a flop. I got one fruit that was about 60 lbs. Was it the seed or the conditions? Where can I find real large seeds? So much to learn, so little time till next year. rockypondacres@att.net

Attn Newbees. There are lots of good free seeds available here from the members of BP. You will need to wait until December, when growers start sending out their seeds. Then put a post on the SEED EXCHANGE forum looking for seeds. The proper etiquette is to send a self addressed bubble pack along with the correct postage or a couple$ in a brown Kraft envelope to which ever growers you wish to trade with. The more bubbles you send the more seeds you will have to choose from. Most growers will willingly give their seed away hoping someone will grow them. Also, Frank is correct. Joining clubs with a seed distribution is also a great way to get seeds. You can also purchase proven seeds at the seed auctions starting here on BP around the first of December (Usually every Saturday night), as well there are multiple seed raffles like the GVGO Proven seed raffle in December (Shameless plug)

kaptain: My first year was a 'flop' too. I had a 60 lbr. You'll do better next year. If you have the time and $, find a horse stable or farm and ask for free composted manure. Also, maple leaves add so much to the soil. The more the better. I attribute this year's pumpkin to the 6in of leaves I added last Nov. You'll do well by adding these inexpensive things to your patch. But you'll need Merit and a fungicide too. Search this site for those. Have fun! Greg

kaptain. I think you picked the right site. Alot of info here. I'm a 2nd year grower. I grew Big Max's last year. While NOT Atlantic Giants I got some large kins from the plants that I didn't do any plant or vine management to. I've got some AGs still growing now. Soil,Seeds,Sun,Sweat, and a lot of luck, this year I've got 1 AG 200+ 1AG 150+ and 6 AGs that are big, as well as 7 Big Maxs near or over 100#s on 1 plant. This site and the Groups are a great source. I belong to NHGPGA and will probably join SNGPG, they sound like a great group of nuts. I'll be trying to leave my kins going til Milford NH 10/6/07 or Goffstown NH 10/13/07. I'm located on RTE 40 in Westford MA. If you're in the area stop in. cell 508-284-9479. Good Luck 2008. Kevin
