My main vine has split in half about 8 inches from the pumpkin stem. I guess I didn't cut the roots far enough back on the vine or I missed a couple of the anchor roots. Is this the end of the road for the pumpkin? Or will it keep on growing? Thanks!

Did it break in half before the pumpkin or after. I have one over 500 estimated and still growing with the main ending a foot after the fruit stem.

it will keep growing, make sure you cut all the roots up and down the vine so no more stress

I agree with Gary, you will be fine. I thought you meant it broke cross ways.

What do you do with the 1 or 4' of vine after the pumpkin? I've got 3-4 pumpkins in a similar situation. I covered w/dirt. When they start to stress on the stem,(or before)I'll cut tap roots, Clean w/???, elevate & secure?? wrap w/nylons?? How do you seal the ends? Keep leaves on this small section fromtipping and twisting the vine? Thanks kjk
