Hi! I am just wondering about cutting the roots that grow at the juncture of the pumpkin stem and vine...I know that they have to be cut eventually to allow for proper growth but would it be better to leave it until I absolutely have to cut it so that the pumpkin can have more nourishment? I just wonder if this root is more important because it is so close to the pumpkin?

The roots that are at the juncture of the pumpkin stem and the vine should be cut right away. The roots at junctures on either side of the pumpkin can be cut as the pumpkin grows and raises the vine off the ground.

Brigitte is right, cut them now before you have an "issue" later.

Once the fruit is beachball size, I snip the tap roots 3' in front and 3' behind the pumpkin so there is lots of potential give for slack in the vine.
