Hello, all my pumkins keep separating at the stem. I had 4 or 5 today fall off. we have had a ton of rain for about 2 weeks strait then back to 90 degrees. I know heat will cause them to abort (i have lost a ton of females before they even open) but will to much water cause the stem to pop off? I looked at over watering in the search and all i could find was pumkins spliting? Any help would be great. I dont think I will have single pumkin by october.

Are you making sure to cut the tap roots on the vine at the pumpkin and several feet up and down the vine from the pumpkin? If not, do it now!!

are they falling off when they are small, quarter to baseball size? If so, they probably aren't getting pollinated. Bees or you can do that. Also try putting shade and an ice bottle next to the females on the day they open, and a few days after that if it's in the 90's.

If the stem is getting pulled off the vine when they are bigger, that's due to stress pulling between the vine and the root like Orangeneck mentioned.

they are falling off at all diffrent sizes, from golf ball to basketball. They are field pumkins so not much stress from growth yet.
