here I am again, well since this is my grandsons' plant he got the seeds from Loew's in a cup had 4 seeds 99cents. and he left this one plant w me and grandpa, we have no idea what kind of pumpkin we are growing here, I doubt it's like the BP's I'm seeing pics of on here. but I would still like to do the best job I can w it, so I am working hard to learn. My question now is if it is just a narmal pumpkin when will I know to cut it from the vine? also as of today we have 5 pumpkins and all seem ok, they are all different sizes, from the size of a gallon paint can to grapefruit size. how do I decide which to get rid of so that I can get the biggest pumpkin possible???

If they came from Lowe's they might just be real Dill's Atlantic Giant seeds. Howard Dill Enterprises did cut a deal with Lowe's for this year (& beyond?).

If you are trying for a competition grade fruit, you would cull (remove) all fruit except for the fastest growing pumpkin on the main vine. Ideally this would be located about 12-18' out on the main.

Since this is a "grand kid thing" I'd probably leave a few fruit on the plant just in case something awful happens. Even a couple pumpkins over 100 lbs will turn you into a hero come Halloween!
