4 females on my only plant, all about 25"-28" circumferences.

Seems they get marks/slight scratches/bruises on them almost everyday.

can rain damage these things what could it be.

weather has been rainy here so maybe wet sand causing this?

Ive had the sme problems on pumpkins from time to time. One of mine has like a flat scar on it. Last year I had one just like it and the pumpkin finished fine just had a ugly mark on it. I dont know what causes them Im intrested in finding out also. I actually caused a couple of scratches from not paying attention when placing plywood under my fruit.

Did you remove the leaves from around the fruit? They blow around and are very course and will scar the fruit. I have one that is mangled pretty good. Of course I am growing Big, Not pretty!!! But, It still sucks....

Good point safe house one of the scars was on a pumpkin that the main was rubbing on and a leaf. I had the pumpkin positoned preety good but couldnt get it perfectly 90 degrees. It wasnt a problem once I terminated the main just past the pumpkin. The thing that really sucked it was one of my preetiest contenders.

Eliminate all chances of any drooping or blowing leaves from touching the pumpkins. Use your best judgement. If you only are going for weight then it's a non-issue. You can terminate the vine right at the pumpkin if you need to, otherwise let them run- the plant will naturally terminate itself once the fruit is growing good.
