my 4 pumpkins have roughly 20"-24" circumferences....i throw old white t-shirts over them for shading?

since they are still small, will this help or hurt them?

I've done the same in the past. My pumpkins outgrew the t-shirt quickly, so I have sheets on now. I found some new, cheap, white sheets for $2.50 a piece.

how thick do these things have to be?

i cut the t-shirts in peices and layed them over the pumpkins.

should i take them off at night time and place them over the pumpkin in the morning or can i leave the t-shirt on 24 hours per day?

if i know rain is in the forcast, should i remove the shirts or can they get wet?
