My main vine is at about 20' now with 2 females on her about 12-16' out from the stump.
I also have secondary vines on both side of the mian vine which are about 10' long. MOST of these vines have females on them. Some of these females flowers have shrivled up and will no longer open. i have a few that open in the mornings and i will pollinate them Saturday morning probably.
Like i said, i have prob a total of 12 females on the plant now: 2 on main vine and 2 on each secondary vine about 6'-8' out from main vine.
I will probably leave them all on until the biggest ones get baseball size, then i will remove the rest of them.
Now i have some secondary vines with no females on them and they are about 6-8 feet long....can i snip these vines about 4 feet from the stump and bury them? like i have heard, unnecassary vines = waste of energy.
Also, today july 12th, how big is your biggest pumpkin (measurements).
I am just curious since mine is just the size of a golf ball. i am from new york.

I think my largest is 43" circ. today. Someone mentioned(a couple of days ago), that secondary fruit tend to grow faster early on. I have no first hand experience with this. Something to consider.
