Last year I culled a 16 day old fruit that was the intended cross on the plant so I let it sit in the shade and kept an eye on it,,,around day 50 it showed some mold at the blossum end so I harvested the seeds and dryed them,,

This winter I did some test germinations,,had about 40% success,,
So yes you can get seeds if aged a little,,,,but then again,,in November seeds offers abound here

seed count is a mystical thing,,basically that's why I saved those seeds ,,,wait too long to harvest they can all be bad,,,sometimes low seed counts can really be a disappointment,,,if you think you have a good genetic cross work with them and get them dryed when the time is right

I would say any time you get over 800-1000 seeds in a pumpkin you have a good seed count, average would have to be 400-600 range 100-200 poor range 100 or less really unlucky.. Normally try to wait 40 days before you take the seeds out of a punpkin from pollination.. mark
