I am in my second season growing and keep seeing everyone using kelp....I assume liquid. Living less than a mile from the Pacific has got me thinking if I can use the kelp washed up on the beach?? Any suggestions?

Hi San Clemente,
I use fresh kelp which I get from our local beach. I find it is great for bulking up my compost heap. Gary is right about the rinsing. Mine gets a thorough soaking before being put on the heap. It composts down really quickly too.
Peter.

You won't fins that great North Atlantic Kelp on the beaches of CA but if you find enough to make it worth hauling be sure to rinse out the salts. I'm sure it would do a fine job.
