this is my first year planting A.G. pumpkins, unfortunately i dont have enough space to grow them like most of you guys do on here. i have a patch about 10' wide by 25' long (approximately).

they (2) have been in the ground for over a month now, and the bigger one is starting to vine finally. the leaves are 20" wide. 2 feet spacing between seeds

if i dont have the room to spread them out like an x-mas tree, how big can i still expect some pumpkins to get if i bury my roots and do everything i can with spreading her vines out?

p.s. = i wish i lived on a farm.

also, if i cant grow them like an x-mas tree, what vines should i prune off to help with the spacing but not interfere with the growth?

if it were me, I would only have one plant in that space. Maybe post a diagram or picture showing the layout and where your two plants are? That will help suggest options for how to grow the plants.

Jeremy, I am also in the first year of growing pumpkins. I also have two plants in the same size area as you. I started them on opposite ends and grow them along the sides. I am allowing the side vines to grow toward each other. I prune every other side vine to allow room for the vines to grow to each other (sort of like a puzzle piece). One plant's side vine growing into the open space of the other plant.

I am already out of room and am going to start letting the mains grow around the perimter to allow for more leaves.

I have 4 good pumpkins going and one more just pollinated. I also have two more females comiing up. So far so good.

Remember, I have no idea what I am talking about. I am just a local goof trying to grow some big pumpkins with my kids. So, take this for what it is worth.

Kyle
