In previous years, my plants have started vining after the leaves are 3+ big. This year, they are 16" and have yet to start vining yet. I beleive this is an atlantic giant seed.
any ideas or advice?

I had some pretty big leaves before my main vine started snaking out and once it did it went really fast.

I don't have pumpkins yet but my leaves are very, very wide.

But before my plant started putting out a main vine the leaves were close to this large. Here's an older pic.
