I am assuming there are 2 plants in this picture. Pull the one on the right. Cut it at the base, don't pull the roots out since they are so close both plant's roots are sure to be tangled.

Yea, looks like two plants and one hill? Looks like you could use some go juice... add at labeled rates.

Ok now I see both pic's. Is that a tiny watermelon plant? Start drenching with an organic of your choice... Fish would be good. Alfalfa tea would be good...

Thanks for the information. Yes these plants are Dill's Atlantic Giant, purchased in seed packets from Lowes.
The first hill looked like this with 3 vines growing...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/harleysilo/Garden/CIMG1347.jpg
Then I cut off the middle vine, and removed all of the blooms except 1 female one about 5' down the main vine of the plant on the left.
Now it looks like this... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/harleysilo/Garden/CIMG1372.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/harleysilo/Garden/CIMG1373.jpg
and the one female flower...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/harleysilo/Garden/CIMG1375.jpg
Now is it advisable to remove the vine on the right? If so is that because the hill can't provide enough good stuff to support 2 vines?
The second hill....

Removed one of 3 vines and pinched off all buds...

Now same question, I do have to cut one of the 2 remaining vines, right?
Again, it's my first year and I really don't want to cut down to 1 per hill, which would leave me with 2 vines total. Why do I need to do that?
What "go" juice is suggested? And what symptomes are you seeing that make you suggest that?
Thanks again!
