I'm growing my first big pumpkin (at least that's the plan) and I'm really finding it very addiciting. Just wondering if there are any growers in southern/central Maine area who wouldn't mind if I came over and just took a look at your patch to see your how your beast is flourishing. Thanks.

Dear Maineiac, My husband and I will be in the area, about one hour north of Portland the first two weeks in September. Would it be possible to see your patch? We would call, of course. I have been writing down the Maine growers as I have seen them and I would like to contact them too. I am a beginner and so far am not having any luck but I would really appreicate seeing what Maine can do!. :) Mary

Thanks for the offer Stunner. I will definitely contact you when I plan on being that area. Mrrr and Benface: I live in Portland and while my patch is certainly less than spectacular (only one plant in about 300sq ft), if I can get one going, you are certainly welcome to come by and look at it. Like I said, this is my first crack at this and I barely have a clue at what I'm doing. I would hate to invite you offer on a specific date only to for you to see a 10 lb pumpkin and my tomatoes :-) I'll keep posting my progress on this board assuming there is any.

This all sounds great. I will write or call to see your patches. This is my first year, one pumpkin left and I don't know if it is set. Anything is better than mine! It is loads of fun and I am practicing for next year.
