I know this has been on here before, but if I am going to put plants back to back, how far apart do they need to be? And a big thanks to everyone for all the help and advice, this will be my first "real" year of growing. Last year I stuck some Wal-mart AG seeds in the dirt and just water them.

personally as far apart as you have room considering how much water and nutrients they suck up, each one needs all the room for root structure, without fighting over the same nutrients
10 feet?

Since standard hoops run 10' in length 3-5 feet works fine, esp if you are working on an amended mound at the plant base.

I've never grown this way before but 4' seems to be the accepted minimum. I would agree that the roots will be thoroughly mingled so the mound will be subject to sever water & nutrient depletion.
