Hi, Being a bit new to all this I wanted to ask a question about cover cropping. I have been growing veg for a few years and have used short term cover crops before. I used mustard seed as a short term crop last autumn but would like something that I can leave in all winter after I had harvested my patch. I have heard of a few things that people grow but was wondering what opinions people had on different cover crops. For example, what benefits/ ease of looking after/hardiness etc. Any opinions would be great Thanks

They have a bunch of different cover crops depending on climate and needs. I used the soil builder or buster and was very pleased. Also ordered mustard to add color. All tilled under a week ago by a Kubota and now that it is dried and dead, I am going to till it one more time and puverize it while preparing the actual beds.
Looked like a jungle. Guy said he had never seen such a thing before. Many cut their crops down prior to til, but at their size, there was no way I was going to that effort.
Good luck

Pete........don't know your weather patterns. Here in freezing winters about the only one that I am aware of that lives through is winter rye grass. There are better covers but we have to deal with the weather situation. ...If you can stay above frosts and freezing look for good ones that deliver much more nitrogen.
