Does anyone understand the reason as well as how to train another vine for the main vine? If a main vine snaps, how can you train another to be that vine "out ahead". Does it have to do with nourishment and using a "joint" to be the stem? I don't get it. Thanks for the help. Mary

Hey Mary, all the vines will through off secondaries to themselves, consequently a secondary to a secondary is a teritiary to the main...whoa hope that's understandable. Usually something catasrophic has happened to the main vine so the substitution of a secondary to take it's place is neccessary. The area of the patch where the main was headed prior to termination will be open if the Main is dead ended. So the first viable secondary back from the main vine termination is the most likely candidate for replacement. Instead of training it out 90 degrees simply point it in the same direction the main was going. Hope that helps. Chuck

Thanks a lot Chuck. I now understand about secondaries and teritiriaes but i don't understand WHY there needs to be a vine to replace the main. My vines are fine now but i am trying to understand it all. Thanks for your great explaintion, could you tell me why? THanks again. Mary
