My best female opened today and I hand pollinated with a male from the same plant. My question is do I do this again with the other males or do I just want one, and only one male for pollination.(I think she is a monagamist and does not want to be subjected to an orgy) Also, I covered with a baggie, when can i take this off? If I take off at night does it need to be put back on? p.s.(am I the only one losing my mind over this pumpkin growing stuff? cripes i don't have this much stress in my DAY job!)

If possible, you should use two or three males to pollinate the female.....this is to insure complete pollination. After she has been pollinated, then close the flower with a "Baggie tie wrap" or similar.....then wait several days to see if the fruit is swelling in size.

Agree with svrichb! ALso, I like your diary very much svrichb. It is well written and easy to read.

I also am going bonkers, fun bonkers. I pollinized the ONLY female to get to this stage this morning too. I didn't close it with a baggy tie but, I put iced bottles of water around her and hid her under a cooler. Then I realized she wasn't getting any light, dah, so this aft. I put her under a laundry basket with some fresh frozen bottles. It doesn't feel too cool in there. I hope I didn't kill it when it was in the dark for 4 hours. What do you think anyone? Mary
If this little pumpkin doesn't take, I will be just plain bonkers.

Garden State Pumpkins

Oops wrong Internet site...I was looking for Big Vines dot com...My vines don't come with pumpkins...Looks like 0 for 2. Crazy not in the least ask my psychiatrist! obsessed maybe.but definetly not bonkers!
