anyone have experience in growing these giants in the Albq area? I have seeds from a friend in Ia and need help on how to ensure their growth in our crazy environment.

See if you can locate an organic type grower in your area. Observe and follow him if he appears to have a healthy patch going. Ask him how he meets your specific challenges.

Another option might be to go to a growers market and question the person offering cukes, squash or other mellons grown in your area.

I've been in your area when one could fry an egg on the sidewalk. You do have some situations to work with.

I have to rototill untouched natural cactus invested earth, and doing 600sq ft per plant means I need to get busy, got 300sq ft done and biceps were throbbing, will do more today since winds died down, if its 60degr you till!
Wetta is a slang word for blondey you gringo!

I ask a simple question of how to grow a pumpkin in the desert and look at where this has gone, to the compost pile. Natural,yes.still waiting to hear from desert growers......
