One of the fruits I have hoped to be a primary set is weeping from where the blossom connects to the fruit. It was pollinated on the 10th. The end where the blossom connects is strangely almost as big around as the whole fruit, about 2 inches in diameter from the middle right to where the blossom connects. Should I apply captan to where the blossom is connected to stop the weeping or is my baby a gonner? The weep is more like an ooze but it is all the way around.

It looks like the blossom prematurely separated from the fruit because the base of the fruit is so thick. There is a clear, slightly thicker than water liquid seeping from where this seperation is taking place.

Under general discussion Wes posted "will this be a blossom end split" or along those lines. He also posted pictures in his diary. Take a look is this what your blossom end looks like. Wes doesnt say he is oozing but does say that the crack along the seam is rather large.

one of our small pumpkins has a split like Wes's but much smaller,i made a paste of captan and went around the end with it.when the paste dried it looked pretty good..i hope the crack does'nt mean the end for the pumpkin.

Went and looked at Wes' split. While my fruit is shaped just like that, my problem is radial, running all the way around the circumfrence of the fruit where the blossom and fruit meet. The deepest part was about an 1/8 of an inch. I have since mixed up and applied captan to the problem and am now holding my breath. Haven't looked yet this morning, either it does or it doesn't, nothing more I can do right now.
