Ok, yes a newbie here. I have four vines and very few female flowers coming on, I have tried 10-52-10 to help with that problem. Now my question is: what color should the little pumpkins be, yellow or green. I have female flowers that took and some on one vine have little yellow ones and another vine has little green ones. What color should they be? The plants are Hebb and Corkum. Thanks for help, Mare

Mare, They could be either color. I have a 455 growing that has a vine that is green with a yellowish tint & is starting to throw yellow babies. I also have a 744 Welty that has dark green vines & is throwing green babies.
Hebb & Corkum always has good stock, but the fruit could be yellow-green or both.

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to worry that the green one may be a squash reborn. Thanks Mare

Mare...Like paul said...could be either. Alot, if not all, depends on the genetics of the parents of the seed....some fruit start out yellow and turn orange, some start out green and turn yellow then orange, some start green and stay green. And still some start out green , turn yellow, then orange , then green up at the end....You'll know what you get in October ! One thing about Hebb/Corkum seeds is they are often mixed with squash and with those squashy characteristics comes the color....ask around if others have grown those seeds and see what they have experienced......what seeds EXACTLY were they? 875? 616? 780? etc...perhaps someone here knows someone who grew them...........G
