came home from work and the last two feet of the main vine looked to have been bitten in two..pollinated six lobe is back up the main another two feet..the pumpkin is about 15 feet from the stump..should i bother to train a secondary as the new main or just call it good on the main and finish growing out the secondaries..i have nine pumpkins pollinated so far, only one on the main..any and all opinions will be helpful..john

If it were my plant, I'd direct the last secondary to follow the path of the main and let tertiarys grow off it. I am assuming that you have the room!

Yikes! Curb them dogs! Hey Lobsta sorry to hear that. I'm pretty sure Scott Armstrong only had four inches of main past his pumpkin caused by an accident. I think you go along with Stan's advice if you still have the room. That plant looked real healthy it'll be fine...Grow em big!
