Might not be a bad idea if you can forklift it from your patch. One thing to consider is that hight of the stem vs. the vine as the pumpkin grows. The extra 6" may cause excessive stem tress, uless the pallet is recessed into the ground somewhat. I would not recommand it if the pumpkin will be moved by hand; that 6" drop is more than enough to split the pumpkin if one of the movers has slippery hands.
