When planting 2 plants back to back, how much space do you leave between the two?

hoots dirt (Mark)

Farmville, Virginia (mfowler@hsc.edu)

Last year I had 2 plants back to back, had about 1 1/2 feet between stumps. I had no problem with the plants but I have heard more experienced growers say you need about twice that distance.

Lotsa work to be done between the plants and close proximity would definitely cause some soil compaction in the primary root zone...I would opt for some added room.
