we found a main vine split about 3 feet from the stump. the split is about 2 inches long with about a foot and a half of good vine growth on the other side. it also has at female on the end of the vine. we have applied a bandage to it. what now. observe? cut off and train a secondary? cover the split with dirt? thanks for any help....owen

Owen,,if the split is running with the grain,,apply powered sulfur or captan..I'd leave uncovered so the air can get to it and let it heal.....

If I see anything on the vines I don't like, I bury it. Like Jeff said though, I would dust with a fungicide and then bury it.

thanks for the input guys. it is running with the grain and the plant doesn't appear to be hurting that much. i'll probably bury it after it has healed....owen
