Discovered a hole about 1/2" X 1/4" in 'Moose' tonight. Upon closer examination the hole appears well healed on the edges, however it is still open to the center of the vine. There appears to be no leaking from the hole at all. The vine has grown over 4 feet beyond where the hole was discovered and male flowers should start opening tomorrow. Need some advice on what to do with it if anything.

i feel bad no ones responded to this question..i've been growing giant pumpkin plants for nearly two months and my advice would be to wrap a captan pasted piece of paper towel around the hole and bury it..i'll bet that will get a response..lobsta..

is the hole on the main vine or a secondary vine? is the slice accross the grain or against it? how deep is the hole? anyway, what i would do is use something dry, and keep it dry. whenever i have split, or a crack i use dry sulphur powder. it keeps infection out and helps keep things dry. that's what i do at least

If it appears healed,,I would apply dry captan,,or sulfur...Have applied sulfur to all of my wounds and it has dried it right up...You will be fine....my 2cents...

Hey Guys, I have a similar problem, one of the first true leaves right above the stump is cracking right there at the junction. I burned the plant early on with Sevin with a bout of white flys which are still around but under control. Just wondering if I should just take the leaf off now and treat it, Or leave the leaf on treat it and let nature take it's course.
