Garden State Pumpkins

When I get my camera back (this week I hope JVC junk) You won't believe these pictures. Anyway I finally got the vine down to patch level without cracking it but it was painful. The vine doubled at the tip and I tried to pinch one of the doubles off. That didn't work couldn't tell if I was pinching the left or right side when they were still balled up at the end... Is there a pumpkin word for the growing tip end roll??? anyway it looks like I have a flat side and a very skinny round one. The secondaries are really starting to take off. Here's my dilemma. The secondaries are already larger then the skinny round main. I could train them out to the main. I have to go to a modified flag because of limited patch space. Got good weather and this week will have to make the decision to train the secondary vine on one side out to the side. or to the middle as a main. Oh what I wouldn't do for a normal plant!!! Any suggestions at all. I'll take votes right now!!secondary or skinny main!

Just give your main a few more days to examine if you can go with one of the new vines. I had the same problem and waited. When both vines were about 12 inch they showed a female each. Pinched off the one not exactly pointing into the desired direction. So far I´m going alright with the "new main", hope to pollinate in 2 or 3 days.

alexdad,

Don't worry so much! I'm confident you'll end up with something "admirable!"
