Other than the pumpkin obviously. Being new, can I just bring the pumpkin on a regular blue tarp on top of a pallet? It only weighs about 450 or so. I saw on pumpkin digest the mention of a "proper lifting tarp." I have not bought one as I don't think it will be necessary this year.

I am going to Half Moon Bay as it is the closest to me. I know I won't win, but am going for the experience and to meet all of you who come, and most of all to have fun. I plan on bringing the family as well for support so what do I need. I have seen the Safeway flyer but it didn't seem to mention a fee to enter or even how to really enter. Do most people just show up and register on the spot? How early is "early" to get there. Some of these are probably specific to HMB, but any tips are appreciated.
