When and if will the pumpkin start growing between 20 and 30 pounds a day? I saw another post about someone putting 202020 and seaweed on it. I am doing both. They suggested that the person fertilize totally folair feed instead putting half the fertilizer on the stump. Is this what you guys would suggest?

Join the club, I think you have to have ideal conditions, ie om, and all the critical nutrients in the soil to do that kind of gain.
You are a new grower, as am I, let hope you average only 10 lbs a day for the next 60 days, you will easily have a 700 lb pumpkin, that is nothing to sneeze at. My way of thinking is, enjoy growing a nice size pumpkin, no record, oh well, you dont have to wory about waking up to a blown up pumpkin tomorrow, and nothing to show in Oct.
I don't know about you, but I only have a small city lot to grow, and am not willing to didicate my life to my plants. I know I do not have the space, time and money to get first place, so I grow for big and orange, and may be able to sell a couple of pumpkins this year to help pay for my efforts

Well put gary and with that said,,,patience once again is the key word here. My fruit started picking up lbs/day around day 23-25,,some more than others all with the same watering, ferts, etc. Some of these plants just grow faster than others. Remember the 4 main factors involved here, soil, weather, skill, and "luck" only a couple we have any control over. Don't try to force the lbs, stay consistant with your water and ferts and preventive meds, sit back and see what happens, make notes and learn for next year.

I would be doing cartwheels gaining 13 lbs a day. I'm at day 21 and yesterday I was at 117 total inches and 40.9 lbs. That's 0.9 lbs bigger than the day before. It is a beautiful pumpkin, It's just not growing. I haven't spent 4 months in the patch to grow a 60 lbs pumpkin. I'm going to start throwing everything in the shed at it. It's going to start growing or blow up.BOOM!

Most of my gains have been between 20, and 40 day's thats when its starts to peak for me and if your gaining 13 lbs right now, thats good she she wont blow on ya early ( hopefully) if you got your soil in good condition back off the ferts for a day or 2, and watch her grow, she'll peak then start a slow decline all the way to harvest, if you continue to keep her healthy, to much water, and ferts on the stump or crown area in my patch leads to stump rot, most of your growth will now be coming from your sidevines, thus foliar the plant. Your primary root zone will extend 12'in all directions from your stump, a 36' cicumferance it would be a good idea when you fertilize to hit those areas. So.. Keep her healthy, watch her grow, and there born to grow big, so fert when you need to, and if you think you need to. Do what works for ya , and keep notes like dan said very good practice. great luck, and a new PB Rog.

I can't agree more, to what has just been said. As you gain experience and soil condition (management) you should be just as pleased, to know you are working, in the right direction. Enjoy your grow. Best of luck.
