regular jack-o-lantern type pumpkins start out as green females. in AG's some of the most orange at maturity start out green. but "AG squash" also start out green. Time will tell.

my understanding of "true squash" they must start green and stay green...otherwise they're pumpkins.

At Peas size the could very well be green & will turn yellow. What is the parent?

i have a few mystery plants this year. i had a bunch of what i thought were ag atlantics pop up in a far corner of my garden. i thought it would be fun to thin them out a little and get some smaller pumpkins out of them. im starting to see now that the females are green. i know all the ags ive ever planted anyways have, even at pea size, been yellow. thing is ive never planted anything but ags in my patch so im very confused as to the color and the leaves are slightly different

If they're grass green they're either squash or maybe you have a pepo.
