I'm not sure what to do at this point in my growing project. If you guys could take a look at my diary and give me some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I have a vine thats about 12 ft. now with a pumpkin on the end and not sure if I should keep it or not.

Garren, looks like that flower will be open in the morning or possibly the next day. Go ahead and pollinate it. 12 feet out is plenty. You can always cull it later. If this is your first year growing read this first. http://bigpumpkins.com/HowTo/Pollinate/ Good luck! Mark

Practice the pollination...try and get some surface water near the secondaries and see if you can get them to start running. Looks like your heat is keeping them under the main vine canopy. cover the mains growing tip so it doesn't bake in the sun. Good Luck you're doing great! GrowEmBig! Chuck

Thanks guys! Pollination completed. Just to clarify...I need to get more runners to grow out from under the canopy and the keep those tips protected? What do I do with the growing tip that is growing past the female flower we just pollinated? Do I keep covering the vine with compost and protect that tip too? Sorry for all the questions...but I am clueless at this point and need step by step instuctions. I've read some of the how-to's but I'm not comprehending the time frames...such as when a certain step takes place or whether or not I am even at a specific stage.

You will need to pollinate all fruits til you know one is set. With your heat nothing is safe.....
