Out-to-Lunch

Manitoba

Hey everybody. I have an atlantic dill that I transplanted outside into my garden from inside. It is about a month and a half into it's life cycle and it has a flower already blooming on it. Is this normal? The plant has one vine that is about 8 feet long and the leaves are not big at all. The biggest leaf is about 9 to 10 inches across. Should I abort this one and start anew?

2 or 3 small leafs are just as good as 1 big leaf ,as far as getting energy from the sun. Now that it is outside big ones will come. as far as flowers at 8 feet are they males or females if there males wait 9 or 10 days females will follow, and your main will be perfect, more males will be there when you need them. if i was you, i would not abort that plant, but its your choice. big changes occur once outdoors.. The flower is a female. So I shouldn't worry about the plant flowering to early? It will flower again when the time is right? I wasn't expecting a flower until the end of July.

I love your handle. I have said before, that my out of office reply for email should always say "out to lunch",

To your question, some plants flower very early, transplant stress, changes in temperature, etc, cause this I believe. Depending on your climate conditions, the end of June, first week of July is normal for having a AG ready to pollinate. I would not worry.

Wish I was out to lunch,
owen
