Subject: Rye slow Start?

If you were late getting your rye in last fall will it catch up in the spring? I only have an inch or so now here in NC. Temps in the 40's and 50's in the day colder at night. Thanks

Carl it will still germinate as low as 34f mine was just a inc or two then this warming now its 6" tall dont worry I did note it grew slow but it keeps on growing, when we were in the 20'S didnt hurt it at all, and it was frozen in the morning Take care rog

Yes it will grow as the weather warms. Just try, to get it tilled back into the soil a month before you plan, on setting out your seedlings.

That's way better than me. A flock of birds has been hanging around and they dang near ate every one of my rye seeds! (Reminder to self cover the seeds better next year!)

Toby, I hope so...late seeding in winter rye...approx. 3" tall...very warm winter and very little growth...hoping longer days will kick it a little...great to see all the activity on new growers forum... Peace, Wayne
