Subject: heating cables,

ok, i found some old pipe heating cables is what i think they are, the thing is about 30ft long, can i use this as a soil warmer, is it all right to bury it in the dirt outside?

Bill, I'd think twice about burying regular heating tape(if that's what it is). Don't think it's spose to come in contact with much/any moisture(watering may be risky). Why not just put a small greenhouse over plants. I'm up here in Bemidji, and my hothouses have been usede for past 5 years with good results. Heats the soil about 10-15 degrees above surface temps.
