About 500 sq.ft for each plant would be a minimum space. I think about 4 plants is about right for 1 person to care for.

I give mine about 350 to 400 sq feet and have gotten a couple around 750# so far. If you need some decent seeds shoot me a e-mail. I started with three and am up to 5 and thats all im willing to try for now. Steve from Anderson In

I suggest a space of 20 ft wide by 25 ft long as a minimum (500 ft2). I grew 6 plants my first year and 9 plants last year. They are a lot of work especially from mid June to late July. Keeping the patch clean of weeds is the biggest challange. I spend 2 to 3 hours per day in the patch during this period.I am going to try mulching with compost next year.

B&R, The question should be, "How much time can you spend in the patch?" A first year grower should avoid "biting off more than you can chew". The object is to have fun! Only a fool would plant 16-20 plants! ;>)

Thank you to those who replied to me. I appreciate your time and answers. I'll take all the advice I can get. Moondog, my e-mail address is MGOODMAN69@yahoo.com. I couldn't get your e-mail to work through this site, so please e-mail me with your address and I'll send a bubble envelope to you. I would like some good seed with a good family tree. Thanks, B&R

B&R, check out seed exchange board...lots of good genetic background seeds have been offered up for the price of a SASBE. Good luck and welcome to the insanity. Peace Wayne

If your actually patch is only 25x20 would it Hurt any to grow a plant back to back,( total of 2) Or would the roots be fighting for food and water? My reason being is my patch is only of that size ( main patch ) but grown back to back allows for 2 plants and they can both grow outwards a good 50 ft
