can anyone from the same growing region, im from around detroit mi...... tell me when they would plant 2 crops during the season? 1 crop to sell for halloween ready to sell about a month or less before, & a crop to grow competition pumpkins & bigguns for decoration or later sales. i have no idea of any michigan pumpkin competions or the month of year they hold the contests. appreciate any suggestions

Michigan has the same climate as Wisconsin. We start our Giants at the end of April. They are in the hoophouse before the 10th of May. Jack-o-lanterns are started at the end of May for harvest in the 3rd week of September. Some pumpkins have a shorter maturity span and are ready in 90 days were most require 100-120 days.Michigan has several weigh offs.
