I am growing CT Fields and have nine good-sized pumpkins on one plant. Four of the pumpkins have a small hole exactly in the center of the blossom end. This is a photo of one: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=43203. Since all four are exactly in the same place I'm hoping this is a normal maturation thing rather than a bug and am hoping it doesn't go through to the cavity.

What is this? If anyone knows please respond to this post.

Its common on field pumpkins. That hole is actually only a dimple. If it went threw to the cavity you would know.As you have a rotten. If you controlled the pollination of your pumpkins I will trade you some AG seeds for some of your seeds. If not I cant take the risk as we sell them in the fall.

Linus, thanks for the reply and putting my mind at ease. I did not control the pollination on my pumpkins - they are open pollinated by bumblebees and honeybees. The seed that I planted was from a packet of Hart's CT Field Pumpkins seeds which I obtained at a local store if you want to try some. If you decide you want some seeds from my pumpkins in spite of the open pollination let me know how many and I will send you some; no need to trade as I have more AG seeds with the genetics I want at this point than I will be planting for the foreseeable future. I am giving some of my pumpkins away to some of the neighbors but could request the seeds back.
