I am growing a 1083 frantz and it is measuring in at 374" ott,and it developed a nasty dill ring.It started to split at the intersection of a rib and i put a fungicide paste over it several times and kept it dry.Yesterday i washed the paste off to see how bad the crack was and it seems to have healed over, but it does not look pretty. The skin looks very dark where the paste was. Will it be a bad idea if i try to compete with it,will it be disqualifed, eny ideas?? Help. Our weight off is on sept,17.

if you can not find a hole that goes through to the cavity then take it to your weigh off.

oh yeah, congrats. that is a big one!

If its not thru to the cavity, cut the main so it doesnt grow and trim off almost all of the secondaries. A calcium soaked towel could help( not proven). Dont water or fertilize. Pray a bit. Dave

if your weighoff is in 3 days, i would probably pick it now, and keep it as cold and dry as possible. you're not going to lose more than 5 pounds between now and then, and it's better than risking a last minute pinhole.
