Ya did'nt feed them enough Blue Claw Crab Meal. :) Kidding, well sort of. Temperatures above ninety degrees for more than thirty days here kept us in suspense. We could pollinate what appeared to be a healthy FM but two to three days later it was abortus city. This went on until the pumpkin and the weather got together. We finally got a FM that had not been cooked for two or three days over ninety degrees. Then we got a couple going that kept on keeping on.... Better later than never.

I know of no sure fire way to cool them short of misting ten to fifteen seconds of every half hour. Misting used and controlled nicely will lower the temperature as much as twenty or more degrees.

Hey I worked with the Boy Scouts of America as a young professional, near your community. My first assignment was part of Norfolk. My second area assignment was the Va. Beach District with a staff of two assistants. Your backyard was more or less my neighboring associates. Love your part, of this country.
