Subject: Pumpkin Shapes and Genetics

I have gathered that the ideal shape for a giant pumpkin is long as opposed to squatty.
Has anyone spent some time looking at the source seeds and their parent plant characteristics to determine best possible matches.
ie. Is the squatty pumpkin part of the male parent and then making that plant only a pollen donor, with the best match being a plant that produces the longer fruit.
