I have read many places that you should start your pumpkins two weeks before your last expected frost. My last expected frost is February 28. So should i wait to start them in March or April or even May? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of people try to plant in accordance with when they want a finished fruit...weigh-off date. General rule...very general...60 days from sprout to pollination...70 to 90 more from pollination to mature fruit. Lots of variables and unpredictable occurences to try and factor in. Kano, in southern Arkansas just harvested a nice one. Check out his diary. Should have start date in there somewhere. Hope this helps. Diaries are a good source of info. Peace Wayne

I started my 1125 Frantz seed in a ziploc bag on March 3rd, Pollinated on May 13th, and Harvested the 80 day old pumpkin August 1st.

Thanks Kano, I guess my memory isn't as bad as I thought it was. 70 days from sprout to pollination and 80 days to maturity. I was in the right "GENERAL" time frame. Great job, by the way and congrats on the record. Peace Wayne
