Subject: How much water

I'm a new grower in northern Calif and am wondering how much water is enough. My vines wilt in the afternoon sun, 100 to 105 deg days but recover when it cools down in the evening. I have been watering every other day for 4 hours with a drip system. Thanks for the help

Common theory around here is approx. 1" or just a little more per week, depending on soil conditions...soil that drains real well needs a little more than soil that retains moisture better. If I remember correctly that figures out to 630 some-odd gals per 1000 sq. ft. Hope this helps. Peace Wayne
