I know that it is July 29, but I don't have any female pumpkins? Is there any way for me to prod my pumpkin into producing any, or do I just have to sit back and be patient? -Behemoth, Colorado

How old is the plant? What fertilizers have you used? What are you Temperatures like? We need more information...lol We are just pumpkin growers not mind readers...Although I bet Giant Jack can read minds...

How long have your plants been in the ground?
I think that some people use a high phosphorus fertilizer, perhaps a 10-52-10 or 15-30-15, to promote blooming. But, you should wait for more feedback before you do anything I say. Afterall, I am just a newbie and don't really know what I'm talking about.

My Holland only producing males. Questions: What date did you plant it? How many hours of full sun? What type of seed?

I wondered the same thing but realized that the females come later on the plants,,, i think I had almost 9 feet on 2 mains before the first appeared. and had already blossomed several males. I am growing a generic AG ,,, it has me wondering what i planted since it has taken over most of the garden and is about 20 by 40 now. I was thrilled to think that i had a 20 day pumpkin with measurements of 82 inches but then understood that,,,,I am a generic in a land of genetic GIANTS. Cant wait till next year.....

I'm growing a Holland that did not produce females until last Sunday. The main is 16-17ft with 6-8ft secondaries. I think you should be getting females this week. I transplanted this one on June 11th so it's late. It's been 7 weeks and that's around the target for females to appear. I believe this is why so many experienced growers germinate and transplant in May. They are 4-6 weeks ahead of us. Don't get too discouraged, there's 7 weeks of summer left where the sun is strong and the temp hot. You may apply a high phosphorous fert (triple phosphate) and see what happens. How are you watering? Greg
