I've noticed MANY different names listed here, such as 810 Dill, 947 Wentzell, 1047 Carson/Peterson (not sure I remembered ALL of the #'s and names correctly). I'm curious - where do the names come from? Grower's names? Pumpkin weight? Just curious! -Rob

they're listed as the pumpkin weight, growers' last name, then the year the fruit was grown. The label applies to the fruit itself, as well as the seeds inside.

So, the name comes from the person who grew the pumpkin. It seems like alot of information loss this way. Let's say you grow a 1400 lb. pumpkin from the 810 Dill crossed with the 1097 Wentzell, you would end up with a 1400 Dillzell? This is probably not the best way to represent the pumpkin or your growing abilities but, it does give some better idea of the genetics. Greg

nope, if you grew that 1400#er, it would be:
1400 [greg's last name] 05 (810 Dill x 1097 Wentzell)

I'm located between Grandview and Hilliard. (between Hague Ave and Wilson Rd, just north of 70) Are you an expert grower?
