Hi all.I can't believe I am trying to grow these plants. My regular garden is easy compared to this.I tried to grow the Atlantic Dill last year,it was going good for a while then the plants just died! This year I had 4 seeds left over and started them indoors in mid april in a 10" pot.I am surprized what they are turning out to be. I cleared an area about 10x10 for them to grow. After trimming some brush, more than once, it is now about 15x30. I lost 1 plant early on.I have 2 mains that are growing like crazy. I am ahead of my expectations. Just hope nothing goes wrong like last year.

Hello Swampper,
Welcome to BP & all the insanity that comes with growing AGs!
The Conn. Giant Squash & Pumpkin Growers Assoc. usually stops in Durham during our Annual Patch Tour. Check out our website for some pictures from last year. We're thinking of hold the 2006 event on August 6.

Swampper, Take a look at Don Langevin's books for insight on growing GP's. This will give you the basics from New England growers. Don is part of a very successful group in Rhode Island. He has three books out right now How to Grow Giant Pumpkins I, II, III that can be found at Amazon or if you order it from him he will sign it. There are also several great growers in CT if you need help (or possibly seeds). I was thinking of starting a support group of GP Growers widows. They could meet up in Manchester at Evergreen Walk once a week.
