I had a bad week with that big storm last weekend and just two days ago I cut a branch that landed on my main vine and cut the tip off at 8ft. Too bad because my first female was on that tip. Murphy's Law strikes again!@ LOL! I just don't know what to do or what will happen. I would like the secondaries to grow faster now that the main is out of the picture but the secondaries are only 4ft. In my mind, it's going too slow now. I can't see growth like I want but and am really tempted to dump high nitrogen fert on it. But, at this stage, flowers are forming (mostly males) and I heard females may not appear due to high nitrogen levels. How patient should I BE???

Males come first, in most instances. You will get a female at the tip, of the secondary. Go with the secondary closest, to the point, of break off. Go ahead, in this case and do not remove the growth from the last two secondaries. You will get something. Maybe you will teach us all a new trick called fallen limb management.

Refer, to rule nineteen: "CONSISTANCY". The only consistant thing about growing pumpkins is the inconsistancy it shows you.
