After the first tiny true leaf appears, how long do you wait to put it out in the patch? Columbia, S.C. (avg 70 F @ night now) 582 McKinney

You want to wait just long enough to be able to tell what direction the first true leaf is pointing. This will allow you to know that the main vine will run in the oppossite direction of that first true leaf. ( At least 90% of the time). Overall, the sooner you can get the plant in the ground the better becasuse the roots grow very fast ( 2 inches a day somtimes) and you want to aviod having the roots touch the sides or bottom of your planting container which will result in root bound very quickly. By the way, the first "true leaf" is actually the third leaf to appear on the plant. ( in case you didnt already know that) Good luck and grow em big!
